Today the number of food joints coming up in the city is crazy. To sustain and emerge in this fierecly competitive industry where one dish can make the entire town go haywire is no less than a challenge.In this scenario, we have chef Ninad Joshi, who, with his culinary passion and startling artwork has come up with some stellar recipes.
Italy via Punjab is carving its own way with some really creative food on its menu.The chef has surely hit some right chords due to which this place is definitely going a long way.
Ambiance-Located in NIBM, this place does justice to both dhaba and a restaurant atmosphere.Breezy and quiet,the place has been very aptly designed with vegetable carts and drum like chairs to teleport you to a dhaba and is embellished with modern frames and pretty lamps.
Those looking for a peaceful family dinner,there’s a beautiful seating arrangement here with comfortable beds and curtains around.The intricate work on the cutlery shows how every minute detail has been taken care of.
Food-Though the name suggests the delicacies of Italy and Punjab,this place has much more to offer.European,modern Indian,Continental, Mughlai to name a few.With an extensive menu consisting of soups,salads,appetizers,between breads and mains, this place has equal options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians as well.
Although a lot of dishes have been experimented with varied culinary traditions, the classic pizzas and pastas are also available here for the people who like it simple.Its impossible to do justice to the entire menu here in one go,we still tried to make the best of what we could.
1)Chicken tikka da bruschetta-Bruschetta, garlic bread’s sibling, is a pretty famous italan reciepe. The usual bruschetta here was topped with minced pieces of the very punjabi chicken tikka.
2)Fish goujans-A more comfort food version of fish and chips, fish goujons were served with honey mustard sauce which complimented the basa fish very well.A dash of lemon juice takes this dish to another level.
3)Gulkand aur malai ka murg tikka-The chef here deserves a special mention to have come up with this dish.Rose pesto has been the newest ingredient in town everyone loves experimenting with.This murg tikka with delicate flavors of rose pesto is slightly sweet and is certainly winning hearts.
1)Butter chicken penne-This was undoubtedly the star dish of the evening.The two most loved delicacies of Italian and Punjabi cuisine in one plate.Isnt that a heavenly combination?
Creamy pasta with the perfect spices mixed with butter chicken gravy which was served with garlic naan. The only way in which I would describe this dish:PERFECT!!!
2)Prawn koliwada ki biriyani-The dish has been originated in Sion Koliwada (fisherman’s village) by a Punjabi immigrant.A simple but brilliantly flavored biriyani with spicy,deep fried prawns.This dish was bang on.
3)Murg dhaniyawala-The key ingredient of this dish were the coriander seeds. Succulent chicken cooked with the very refreshing flavor of coriander seeds,i totally relished this boneless chicken gravy with some naan and steamed rice.
1)Masala chai pannacotta-Tea is an emotion when it comes to India and playing with it to make a new reciepe can get very critical. Being an ardent tea lover, this pannacotta didnt do any good to my palate and was a disappointment.
We just tried the normal ice tea which was okay and the readymade one.The chaas was nice and could be opted for.
This place is an excellent option for family dinners as the kids can gorge on some delicious pizzas whereas the rest can enjoy the good old Indian food.What makes this place really different is the fact that inspite of all the exclusive and high end food served here ,its extremely reasonable and doesnt dig a hole in your pocket.I would sincerely like to thank Mr Hatim and Chef Ninad Joshi for hosting us and for this lovely experience.
